This year, Sears created the Heroes at Home Wish Registry to make the wishes of military come true for the holidays and enable customers to provide a direct ‘thank you’ to members of the military. Americans can help give back (through a donation) starting this Veterans Day – November 11th.

Heroes at Home Wish Registry works similar to a bridal registry. People go to Sears.com to read these family’s stories and what they are wishing for. They can choose to help a family in their area or a family whose story touches them. Ultimately all registrants will be granted Sears gift cards in equal amounts, which will be determined based on the number of entries and donations.

The mission of Let's Say Thanks is to provide a way for individuals across the country to recognize U.S. troops stationed overseas. By submitting a message through this site you have the opportunity to send a free personalized postcard greeting to deployed servicemen and women.

The postcards, depicting patriotic scenes and hometown images, were selected from a pool of entries from children across the country.

All you have to do is click on your favorite design and either select the message that best expresses your sentiment or draft a personal note. The postcards are then printed on the Xerox iGen3® Digital Production Press and mailed in care packages by military support organization Give2TheTroops®.

Hundreds of thousands of American troops are deployed in hostile and remote regions of the world, including the Middle East, Afghanistan, Africa, Guantanamo Bay and on ships throughout international waters. The physical conditions they must endure are difficult and they may be separated from loved ones for long periods of time. OPERATION GRATITUDE seeks to lift troops' morale, and bring a smile to their faces by sending care packages addressed to individual service members deployed overseas. OPERATION GRATITUDE care packages contain food, toiletries, entertainment items and personal letters of appreciation, all wrapped with good wishes of love and support.

Through Collection Drives, Letter Writing Campaigns and Donations of requested items or funds for shipping expenses, OPERATION GRATITUDE provides civilians anywhere in America a way to express their respect and appreciation to the men and women of the U.S. military in an active, hands-on manner.

For over 67 years, the USO (United Service Organizations) has served as the primary bridge between the American people and America’s Armed Forces, delivering a unique combination of morale building, counseling, and recreational services to our troops and their families all over the world.

In addition to handing out pre-paid phone cards, the USO supplies departing troops with Care Packages of sunscreen, toiletries, and snacks that simply aren’t available where they’re going. USO volunteers meet arriving flights across the country every day, to make sure that returning GIs are welcomed home as heroes.

USO Family and Community Centers help military families adjust to new surroundings and support families separated by deployments. USO Mobile Canteens, equipped with refreshments, televisions, and mini-stages for live performances, can go anywhere in the world to meet the needs of our forces in the field. USO Airport Centers assist military personnel and their families in transit, offering translation services, libraries and reading rooms, TV and game rooms, housing and accommodation assistance, nursery facilities, and local information; in some Centers, GIs can even take a shower or a nap.

All told, the more than 130 USO facilities in the United States and around the World are visited by more than 5,000,000 service members and their dependents each year.
