Message from Bonnie - Week of November 3rd

Hey Everyone,

I'm so thrilled you all enjoyed our Halloween show, we sure had a blast! I especially enjoyed the 60's theme.

Our dedicated producers, crew, worked overtime to make it all work. Special thanks to our wardrobe, hair and make up departments. Nancy, Lani, JoAnn, Anna Maria, Melanie, Amy, fantastic work!

I want to thank crooner, Stephen Triffitt, for coming all the way to LA just for my show. Singing pitch perfect after a 15 hour flight, he's a real pro. Stephen's extremely talented, and such a gentlemen, (a plus in my book) I'm glad you all enjoyed his wonderful Sinatra impression. I was so happy to share the experience I had the first time I saw Stephen live.

The studio was filled with that old showbiz energy, our audience on their feet, ensconced in the melody/tone of those classic songs and Stephen's performance.

I look forward to our musical guests each week, and have been flattered by all who have made a choice to be on the show, so much talent.

I really got a kick out of Sam Trammel, he's a fine actor and funny. Love that sense of humor. I'm sure we'll be following his career as it soars to new heights.

David Alan Grier, well, he's one of a kind, always interesting, entertaining, and his "Maya" impression, ugh, that made me laugh.

All of our guests made the effort to fit in with the 60's Halloween theme, and our studio audience did too..so nice of all of them..thanks, thanks, thanks.

I'm thinking we might keep up with the "retro feeling" perhaps making one day a week a type of "throw back" perhaps a Retro Tuesdays or something. Let me know what you all think.

This week we are looking forward to having Cloris Leachman share a second visit. My Mom gives some homespun advice on ichat. Our next door neighbor, Howie Mandel drops by, Labelle fills the studio with soul, it should be an interesting week...never know what's going to happen on our show!

I must say again, I truly enjoy reading about your family memories/stories, personal triumphs, medical hurdles you are bravely facing, your comments, ideas. You all seem to be such wonderful people, strong, and humorous. I feel so fortunate to have you cheering me on.

I appreciate your enthusiasm for our show, when I hear that someone has taken the time to call or write to their local station, it warms my heart. You do make a difference and with your support we hope to be on the air for a long time.

I want to send out a hug to all the little kids we had on our "last minute Halloween costumes" segment, so well behaved, polite, sweet, a joy. Loved seeing their smiling faces on camera proudly wearing those costumes. We had so much fun coming up with the ideas.

Thanks everyone, go out and make it a great week, one day at at time.
Best,
Bonnie

Hi Bonnie,

As a big fan of yours I thought you would love the e-mail I have enclosed. It brought back many wonderful memories for me and I thought you might have a few of your own after reading it. Keep up the great job, you brighten everyone's day!

The History of APRONS

I don't think our kids know what an apron is.

The principal use of Grandma's apron was to protect the dress underneath, because she only had a few, it was easier to wash aprons than dresses and they used less material, but along with that, it served as a potholder for removing hot pans from the oven.

It was wonderful for drying children's tears, and on occasion was even used for cleaning out dirty ears.

From the chicken coop, the apron was used for carrying eggs, fussy chicks, and sometimes half-hatched eggs to be finished in the warming oven.

When company came, those aprons were ideal hiding places for shy kids.

And when the weather was cold, grandma wrapped it around her arms.

Those big old aprons wiped many a perspiring brow, bent over the hot wood stove.

Chips and kindling wood were brought into the kitchen in that apron.

From the garden, it carried all sorts of vegetables. After the peas had been shelled, it carried out the hulls.

In the fall, the apron was used to bring in apples that had fallen from the trees.

When unexpected company drove up the road, it was surprising how much furniture that old apron could dust in a matter of seconds.

When dinner was ready, Grandma walked out onto the porch, waved her apron, and the men knew it was time to come in from the fields to dinner.

It will be a long time before someone invents something that will replace that 'old-time apron' that served so many purposes.

Send this to those who would know, and love, the story about Grandma's aprons. Or it can be a good history lesson for those that have no idea how the apron played a part in our lives.

REMEMBER:

Grandma used to set her hot baked apple pies on the window sill to cool. Her granddaughters set theirs on the window sill to thaw.

They would go crazy now trying to figure out how many germs were on that apron.
I don't think I ever caught anything from an apron......

But Love !!

Bonnie, is there a way we could get copies of your shows. I'm not always home to watch.

I love the Bonnie Hunt show I watch it every day. It is fantastic. One day she showed a Bonnie Hunt sweatshirt you could buy which I would like to. Does she have a store I could buy stuff at? I would appreciate it if you could write me back.

Thanks,
Ann

Hi Bonnie,
I think you are terrific. I lost both of my parents to cancer, and I know you nurses are angels.
Could you please post the John Stamos interview on-line? Unfortunately, I missed it. Thanks so much. Have a blessed holiday season.
Kathryne

Bonnie,

I think I have a great idea for Bonnie's Basement. Maybe you could auction off some of the photos, etc., that you show from your desk. I would be happy to have an actual photo shown on your show with the information on the back and maybe some of them could be signed by the celebrity. Also, if it's a joke, maybe you could sign it. If another writer came up with the joke maybe they could sign it, as well. Just a thought...

Dear Bonnie,
Everyone fits into the great exhistance somewhere according to the shape of their puzzle piece. It's no mistake that you're where you are because of every facet, cut and curve. You blend so well into the big picture board. For all that's deserving of our attention, we give you our love as you give us yours. The whole crew is great & you all belong on the air. You're sweetly and awesomely funny as hell.
Great God Almighty!!! Bless You Child, Bless You! (And "The Blonde" IS a BOMBSHELL!)

I really love having my morning coffee and watching your show now! What a switch from all the 'bad news' to actually enjoying and laughing at your show at 8 a.m. Thanks for bringing a smile to my mornings. ;-)

Really love your show. Yours is the only talk show that can put a smile on my face daily. I look forward to your hour with me. I relate to you so easily since I was born in the 60's. Seeing you daily is like visiting with a long time friend. Thanks for the daily dose of cheer. By the way... love your drink mug and especially your outfits. They are stylish and subdued at the same time. Can they be purchased from a catalog or online?
