Hello,

What a refreshing way to start the New Year than with Kathy Bates sharing a very personal story with the most genuine person on television, Bonnie Hunt. I was diagnosed with cervical cancer on November 12, 2008, after having a partial hysterectomy early in the month. I had a complete hysterectomy on December 15, and have my first follow-up visit with the Oncologist tomorrow morning to see what treatment I will need.

Kathy Bates story brought tears to my eyes (overwhelmed with emotions these days), and it was very touching to see Bonnie's natural reaction to her. Education and knowledge is so important when the "C" word is finally diagnosed.

May 2009 bring a cure to the "C" word - and may your family, Bonnie, find comfort in knowing that so many of us are praying for your family.

Hi, Bonnie,
I am a faithful viewer of your show and love you and your gang. You're so real !
Your devotion to family is sweet and sincere.
As for your clothes, you are not doing yourself justice by wearing those long tops. I'll bet TLC's What Not to Wear hosts Stacy and Clinton would be great on your show. You're beautiful!

I am watching Cathy Bates talk about wishing she was more open about here cancer. I was very open (it is hard not to be when you lose your hair in the summertime).I had breast cancer and was treated at Northwestern.

When we first knew Murph and met you, we could not understand how you could look at death everyday at work and still be funny.

After going through treatment, Tom and I understand totally that cancer treatment is about hope, and laughter is such a huge part of that.

If you ever do a show about cancer treatment, I would love to tell about how cancer was much more a blessing in my life than a curse.

Bonnie,

I have a really cute picture of my cat during the holidays. I was cracking almonds for homade almond bark and he decided he need to lay on the bag that I was putting the shells in. How funny is that. Let me know if you would like to see it.

I did go up to Wisconsin for the Holidays and as I went thru Chicago, I waved Hi to you and said have a great holiday.

Take care

Cindy Husted

Love your show and today's guests. I also caught you in two movies over the weekend...Jumanji and The Green Mile. Fantastic!

It was refreshing to see Kathy Bates on your program today. My last chemo treatment was December 15, 2008. I too had ovarian cancer and will be returning to work January 15, 2009. There are different chemo treatments and some harder than others; since I was young and the cancer was caught early; I underwent IP (interperitoneal) chemo therapy. The chemo is injected through a port in your abdomen and engulfs the internal organs. I would wish no one had to go through this treatment; but I am happy that it is there for those in need.

I tried to go to the website Kathy had left with you; I could not log on; I will try again later. Ovarian cancer is one of the three silent killers, ovarian, cervical, and uteren cancers.

I am retired from the Air Force; earned my Masters Degree and currently employed as a social service worker. What go me through this was friends and family could log on the CaringBridge.org/visit (not for profit orgainization)and keep family and friends updated; since I too had to do this alone. I understand what Kathy meant.

HI BONNIE,
WANT TO WISH U A HAPPY NEW YEAR, AND TO THANK YOU FOR MAKING ME LAUGH DURING THIS BAD TIME IN MY LIFE....I LOOK FORWARD TO SEEING YOU EVERYDAY FOR A FEW LAUGHS....MAY GOD BLESS YOU AND UR FAMILY.

WISH I COULD COME AND SEE U IN PERSON.....

KAREN

Thank you Kathy Bates for speaking out about having ovarian cancer. My mother was diagnosed June 2007 and in July 2008 was in remission. Dec 1 2008 it is back. Ovarian cancer needs a spokeperson. Ovarian cancer needs to be as loud as breast cancer or louder. Kathy Bates would make a wonderful spokesperson. Thank you Bonnie for having Kathy on your show and letting her speak about her cancer. Bonnie you've got the best talk show on TV!

Bonnie:

Saw todays show with Cathy Bates - is she related to your mom. They are certainly separated at birth.

Love Your Show

Eileen

Hi, Bonnie
Just wanted you to know how great it is to see that you have the best talk show since Ellen. I watch you as much as i can you are just
so funny, refreshing, and do so much for good causes. This is one of the reasons i am writing today. I lost my husband -Bret -and a great father to my daughter, we miss him alot exspecially around holidays and other special occations. We lost him to ALS-LOU GERIGS DISEASE. It was a fast moving 11 months from the day he was diagnosed. He was a great carpenter, father, uncle, friend, and a great sense of humor. He would have loved you're show, we made sure he smiled and was in the best of spirits. Not that every moment was easy he couldn't talk or write the last few month's he was with us. But we never talked about the dying we knew that this was where it was going. We took the best care of him and tried to do everything that a family could do to keep him comfortable and in good spirits, lost the battle on 7/14 /07 one month after his daughter graduated from eighth grade. Leaving behind a beautiful daughter Brittney who is now 16 and misses him everytime and day that some thing may not go right.
But the real reward was having in our lives. And there is something i and Brittney need and that is major home repairs and have been writing to Extreme makeover We where one of the
finalist back in September of 2007 but he had already past when we got the e-mail to ask how he was doing that was hard to responed to. But we still need the help, Since then my sister and her husband and there 2 children have moved in and my father passed away so my mom lives with us also. There are seven of us in 2 bedroom,1 bath home of 900 sq. ft . I need some help 3 sleep in the living room, grammy and 2 girls. i don't know if you can help but i needed to send this e-mail just maybe you could give some hope were some days is very hard, ALS is not talk about very much as cancer and for me is sometimes disturbing, because it is a diseaese that needs as much research as every other disease, as at this time there is no cure for this disease. W e hope every day that there will be. So that other families don't
have to go through this, and have some HOPE, that is my problem having some in this world were there isn't much today. for getting my home fixed because my husband, father, uncle, friend, and most of all my carpenter.is very missed. He had so much he wanted to do. He cried when he relised he could no longer do his job. He was afraid he was going to hurt someone because he could no longer hold his hammer, the company he worked for Grady Built of campton N.H. were so sad for that day because he was so great at what he did and they watch as everything was falling apart in his world, and like everyone else tried to help knowing what his future was not holding for him , he could not hug ,or hold ,stand, and show or tell what he needed, but you could see it in his eyes, the sadness that he had , and to leave us at the age 41. and to leave his daughter, he won't see her graduate high school, be here when she got her lisense, or in the future get married, have grandchildren, she struggles everyday, she would love to drive his truck but i can't afford to fix it . it's a beautiful dodge with it's own paint job, it needs body work and she won't let me sell it but i can't afford the work it needs either , as i she is just trying to hold on everyday to the good things and all those memories, that made our world so worth while this so hard, he was her world, and ours .looking for hope, getting out of bed every day and just trying to go on with out him. we tried to do all a family could do before it took his life like after 20 yrs we got married, went to disney, and got family photo's. but there was only so much time and we new it, he wanted to trade the truck but like i said time was not on our side, so now just fixing it is to much,it just sits there , help me please, neede hope to reallly look to the future, not just me but brittney, and everyone who misses him so
much.
So young ,so much more he wanted to do and couldn't. sorry if i keep going on and the sadness. But i need you,re help and some hope for my daughter, and myself . love sandy and brittney and family

I loved the cat video so much I had to look it up on You Tube - I came across this in the process and had to mention it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rM_yWOxjf88

You have a great show- keep up the great work!

LOVE the show. Bonnie is hysterical. Would love it if you could score Donald Fagan (half of Steely Dan) for the show.

I loved today's show with Kathy Bates. I did not know that she was a ovarian cancer surviver! So am I. I just got a clean bill of heath (some what). Not only did I have cancer but when they went in to remove the tumor they gave me 7 pints of the wrong blood! and I lived to tell about it. so you see, the fight against cancer can be won and so can other fights. I was in the hospital for 2 months. Thank God it's all in the past now. I'm on the healthy track. I've joined a gym, have a trainer and research what foods to eat to make sure it doesn't come back! Ovarian cancer needs a spokes person and Kathy Bates it should be YOU!!!!!!!!! :-)

The Lifetime movie Don is in is SMOTHER --- very silly and funny...forgot to mention in earlier posting
Cheers, Bertie

Hey Bonnie fans...check out the new Lifetime channel movie with Diane Keaton and Ken Howard---starring DON as the minister in the latter part of the movie!

Yeah Don!!!!

Hey - like the newe show very much. I wondered if you could send me the comment Bonnie said her father made something about "fatigue breeding fatigue" and "excitement breeding energy"???

I know that is not right but only heard part of it.

The show is funny and refreshing.

Thanks
Lynn

This is too long!!

Not sure what you really looked like today as the show was taped before the new year, but on TV you looked great. Regardless of the joking around, surely you do know you are a beauty.

Even though your Mom probably likes your hair pulled back so she can see your face, it is a flattering style for you.

Like who am I that you care what I think. But you ought to be told daily how good you look and how talented you are.

I'm a FNP, you probably knew and acted upon more as an oncology nurse than I ever have in my career.

Okay, I am unemployed, but hopefully something will open up soon. What's 6 months of unemployment-more time to clean the house and care for children and animules.

Glad to have you back! Missed having my coffee with you in the morning! Really do appreciate your interviews. You have a great way of making people comfortable on your set - be they famous or just normal folk. Keep up the good work - I am so happy to be retired so that I can enjoy your show every day! Peace, Judy

Hey Bonnie! Your show is great, and your beautiful inside and out.I just love your witt, well everything about you.I watched your show once and now I'm hooked.Kathy Bates? "WOW",good move. What an acctress. She is sooo down to earth, she's like "US"regular or should I say real people.Keep up the great work, and stay pretty. (marry me,ha),Bernie

Bonnie your show just gets better and better. It is the best talk show on TV today by far. I seldom miss (only on the days I work) because you just brighten my day! Bless you!
