Bonnie...love your show! Love your humor and stories and closeness of those with whom you are connected. I record your show every day on my DVR. It is a joy to watch. Only piece of advise I have, even though I'm sure you get more than your fair share, is to keep any politics out of your show. Other funny talk show hosts have lost my interest, as well as many I know, when they introduced their political views into their shows. There is always more than one side to any story and sometimes all sides have an equally valid point. With politics, we can't win. Not everybody is "googoo" over Obama! I enjoy the time I spend watching your show and now even my 11 yr old son watches sometimes too. Keep on making it funny and sticking to your morals. We need more of that in this country where it is being created that "anything goes". Thanks for your time and sense of humor! Anna Marie

I was trying to find the script being actioned - we attended the taping of this show I would like a copy of the tape too

I've been trying to find the video of the Mary Tyler Moore interview on your show because my DVR didn't work that morning. I've tried You-Tube and still can't find it. Will you be posting the video of the complete interview? I was really looking forward to seeing it. Thanks.

Bonni -

You are such a welcome presence in daytime television...fresh, funny and always in good taste. Your wit, style and new show format is so enjoyable. Kudos to both you and your guest this week, Mary Tyler Moore (a long time favorite of mine). First, she has been in the entertainment busines for (hard to believe) 50 years! She truly is a legend. What's even more surprising than her longevity is her star power to be inspirational off screen as well. In the 70's she was inspiring young career-oriented women...to feel fine about being unmarried (revolutionary at the time)and focused on their careers. After her legendary TV series, she tackled film, Broadway & other TV series. Some were hits. Some weren't. But through the years, she has proved... she has staying power. And now, at this time in her life, she has taken it on to be very public about her battle with Diabetes, in an effort to help others (especially children). It is yet another tribute to her, far beyond that of a(gifted) actress. While she has been public with her disease (and a lot of her other personal battles)for quite some time, there are still so many people who don't know her story and who don't realize the degenerative effects of this deadly disease. Thank you for giving her the stage to yet again shine a light of hope, and inspiration on this disease. To see you two funny ladies take a few heartfelt minutes and talk so honestly about something so serious that affects so many, was well done. You are both classy ladies. I hope your show lives on in daytime for years!

Bonnie,

Your show with Mary Tyler Moore was so fantastic. You could tell the genuine respect you have for her and she for you. It was such a class act. I hope NBC knows that they have "hit the big time" with your show in their line up. We watch it every day and I don't have to be afraid my grandchildren are going to have to leave the room!

Thank You Bonnie:
I attended the show on Tuesday with Mary Tyler Moore. I am also a Type 1 diabetic for 41 years. Mary has always been someone I keep track of, it's hard to find people who have had diabetes for so many years. She is such a special person and she is as positive as I am. Her book is great! Each day is a reward for the one before. Keep it up Mary! I'm right there with you! Strong women rule!
Linda

Dear Bonnie Hunt and Mary Tyler Moore,

My name is Cindy Stafford and I have had diabetes for 39 of my 43 years. I watched your show yesterday and had this immense need to write this letter to you both. I remember being in the doctors’ office of my pediatrician seeing my Mom with tears in here eye’s trying to comprehend what the doctors were telling her. The demonstration given by the nurse about insulin injections using an orange caught my attention. At four years old it peeked a curiosity within me to figure out what all these adults were talking about with the needles and pieces of fruit. Boy, I never dreamed what that would amount to in my lifetime. An adventure that I wouldn’t change for anything!

I vaguely remember how we stumbled through those first few years learning about this disease. I remember getting into a big heap of trouble when my parents caught me scraping gum off of the cement just so that I could chew bubble gum just like my older brothers. Back in 1970 there were not a whole lot of sugar fee/sugar substitute items for a person with diabetes. Sugar Twin was an amazing addition to my diet. I was very excited about having something to sweeten my Cheerios without having to try fruit which automatically raised my blood sugars too high. It was astounding when we discovered the cola drink called Tab during one of our camping trips up in Canada. The cool, refreshing soft drink was my newest; bestes friend until we returned home and the doctors informed my parents that I couldn’t have it because it contained Sorbitol and Manitol which are a sugar derivative. It would be another year before they made allowances in my diet for sugar free cola and Trident gum.

I wanted to be “normal”, like all of our childhood friends. No one else seemed to have an issue with wetting the bed at night, they didn’t seem to have to watch what they played and how long they played it, they didn’t have midnight runs to the hospital because of Ketoacidosis, they didn’t have special attention from the school Principal, Gym Coach or the Secretaries like I did either. They thought my use of my food scale and measuring cups/spoons was kind of cool though. It would take several more years until I learned that I am normal and that everyone has a certain agenda in their daily lives.

I was so very fortunate to be diagnosed when, where and with whom I was. One of my pediatricians’ wife was a very well known Endocrinologist in the state of Washington. When they couldn’t seem to get my diabetes under control, they contacted Dr. Nancy Purcell and asked that she “take me on” even though I was only a child. Though she didn’t have the same bedside manner that my Pediatrician’s did, she would become my saving grace. The admiration I feel for this woman is so much more than one could ever communicate! She was the first person who told me that I could live a long and healthy life – it was all up to me. When everything you’ve heard, up until that point, is that you have a serious disease that is going to kill you; these are words of a special magic – these are words that mean I’ve got the control of my own life, not this disease! This was a major “Wow” moment for me.

As I was watching your program I felt blessed that there is such a prominent figure that not only has the disease but the best attitude about her disease. I also felt that I had found a kindred spirit. During my mid thirties I decided to go online and just research the disease and see what kind of changes were out there that I might not be aware of. I soon discovered that I no longer felt the need to educate myself but to try and find a way to educate the children that had recently been diagnosed. The information found online ran similar to everything that I had been told before I switched doctors to Nancy Purcell. I reflected back to that day with my Mom crying in the doctor’s office and the years since that had the “black cloud” hanging over everything that I did. How depressing for a newly diagnosed child. Where is the hope that builds the courage? These are the things that got me through the tough times, and yes, there are tough times. Where are the words that say “it’s all up to you” and “you’re in control”? I don’t disagree with the need to educate each diabetic about the seriousness of our disease BUT we need to give them a light at the end of the tunnel to reach for.

One day I will find my way to share my complete story and try to give something positive for the parents, family members and the juvenile diabetic. This is a mission for me to show what a blessing this disease has been. In the meantime – thank you Mary Tyler Moore for your giving of yourself for the same reasons. You are an inspiration for those of us that have had this disease for so many years.

Sincerely,

Cindy Stafford

Bonnie have you decided that it is me that should be on Days of Our Lives yet?

At the end of your show on Wednesday, I saw Kunal Nayyar kiss the head of the dog he was holding. While I already watch Big Bang Theory every week, this act has completely endeared himself to me.

Hi Bonnie, Love Mary Tyler Moore, so glad you had her on the show. she is really an inspiritional lady.

Hi Bonnie,

Just so you are aware, the camphor tree you planted, while used alot in your area, is quite invasive. It can also irritate the skin and the seeds are poisonous... Just thought you might like to know.
Tell Don we love his Healthy Choice commercials.
What a great team you have...love the show!

Was it my imagination or is MTM the first guest Bonnie didn't hug?

Hey just a heads up, I wanted to let everyone know that Xio Dibin speaks English. I hope I posted in the right location?

One of the upsides of having been laid off is that now I am able to watch tv shows that I normally wouldn't have or even known about. Your show is a Class Act!!! You are a Class Act!!
Good for you! Nice welcome in today's world... and considering you came from acting to Talk Show Host. You have a great show and format! You are a great Talk Show Host too, and your guests today were terrific!!! Mary Tyler Moore has validated my wanting to write a book (or two)... same type of venue, different subject, but she's a Great American Icon!!! So, when I get back to work, I'll have to DVR your show now. Continued good luck!!!

CAUTION!!!!!!!!!!

REGARDING THE CAMPHOR TREE YOU JUST PLANTED... PLEASE RESEARCH... I BELIEVE OUR BUNNY ATE A CAMPHOR BEAN, OR LEAF OR SOMETHING... AND IT KILLED HIM. IT'S BEEN SOME YEARS AGO, BUT THAT IS WHAT IS BELIEVED TO BE TOXIC AND DEADLY.

THANK YOU,
MARIBETH DESANTIS

My husband & I love you & your show. Your "Return to Me" movie encouraged us to take Italian lessons and my sweetie surprised me with a trip to Italy in 2005. We loved it in spite of him suffering a heart attach the night before our return flight. He was hospitalized 9 days & I managed by myself back & forth to be with him. Those classes really came in handy to be able to handle the insurance, doctors, etc. .We met a couple that we still keep in touch by E-mail. How wonderful is that! Thanks to you and your great crew! Together, we have 7 boys, 13 grandchildren, 16 great grand and two on the way. What a joy to be so blessed. God bless you, your staff, family& your show for super success!! Lov Ya, Ellie

Fabulous Show today...Mary Tyler Moore is such a class act. Please keep up your fabulous work. I so look forward to watching the show when I get home...I just love it
Bonnie what's with Kevin? Nice hug...He's quite beefy....yum

We were really interested in the Zamu drink but after checking the price, with 2 doses a day as suggested, it could cost as much as $200 a month for 2 people. That's a little steep I think. Also, I didn't find any info on vitamin & mineral content, except for C, which might take the place of other nutrients that we take to help cut the cost. Bummer.....

Where in the heck is Bonnie's basement? I'm interested in the Chuckles The Clown script.
Thanks

I just love Mary Tyler Moore. I became a Type I diabetic at 16 years old (33 yrs ago) and I still remember the day I heard that Mary Tyler Moore was also one. It really helped me. I respect her and knew if she could make it with this disease I could too. I need to get her book. Thank you so much for having her on your show. I love your show.
Jill
