Hi Bonnie. I didn't get to watch your show because I am at work when your show is on. word of you having your cousin Dr Kula, on your show has spread like wild fire among Chiari discussion boards and our Chiari community. I'm an active duty Marine and was diagnosed with CM1 and syringomyelia shortly after i returned from iraq. i underwent decompression in Feb and i am currently trying to adapt to this new normal of my life. i, like many others, refuse to let it beat me. this silent disease affects so many people yet no one has ever heard of it. thank you for bringing to light some acknowledgement of this condition. we are not crazy, hypochondriacs trying to scan pain pills off our doctors or trying to get a free ride from anyone. thank you for putting a face on the community of Chiarians.

Bonnie,

Thank you so much for giving a national stage to Chiari Malformation. I suffered for four years before I was properly diagnosed and referred to TCI. Dr. Kula did my initial assessment and was involved in my surgeries.
I still have cranial cervical instability and may need another surgery. But, every step I take with TCI makes me feel just a little bit better.
I had doctor after doctor tell me that though I had CM it couldn't possibly be what was causing my pain. I was told that I had depression, or my personal favorite "I just needed to get back on the golf course".
I am actively involved with the CM community. TCI is the gold standard for care. Thanks again for bringing a national spotlight to this incredibly painful disorder.

I enjoy watching you everyday Bonnie. You are so clever, cool, entertaining and funny to watch (most days more than the guests). I especially like when you talk about the old days, we must be around the same age :). Fun memorable stuff, keep up the good work. The others just don't cut it anymore!

Hi Bonnie,

It was wonderful seeing the segment on your cousin Dr. Kula. I and My son Dennis both suffer from ACM. My son now 13 was decompressed at age 11 and still suffers from much pain. I live everyday in some kind of pain. As a parent it is the most anxious feeling not being able to do nothing to help your child. Sometimes, I get very depressed watching Dennis go through his changes. Everyday is someting new or more pain. It is an inspiration knowing that you are bringing awareness out. I thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Elena

Hi Bonnie

I have been watching your show while I have been home recovering from having my tonsils removed when you mentioned Chiari Malformation. My mom was diagnosed with this when I was in high school after suffering from pain and headaches for many years. She is now unable to work due to the loss of mobility in her arms, as well as pain in head. We would love if you were to have your cousin on your show to talk about Chiari. For many many people it is something that they have never heard of. When my mother was diagnosed it was a scarey time for my brother and I becuase we were so unaware of what the condition was.

We love your show!

Hi Bonnie, I do not get to see your show as I work full-time and do not have DVR or TiVO. My brother saw the show with your cousin from TCI. I am also a patient there and will be having my surgery later this year. Dr Kula and the Assistant Director will be doing the surgery. I'm hoping that I can get a copy of the show or at least that segment. I think a weekly segment on the many "uncommon" disease and disorders would be a great thing to do. Thank you so much for your time. Mary Bartley, Chicopee, MA

Bonnie, great show today! How great is that pet airline, you should definitely try to bring them on the show i would love to hear more about them and how they are going to change the way pets fly.

Dear Bonnie,

I was laying on the couch yesterday watching your show.....it was a "bad" day....I have a Chiari Malformation and Syringomyelia and live with chronic pain.....and almost fell off of it when you introduced Dr. Roger Kula of the Chiari Institute as your cousin!! I am a patient of Dr. Kula's and he and his colleagues are so wonderful and diagnosed me and so many others when no one else could. Please, please, please do a show and have him as a GUEST! This disorder is so commonly misdiagnosed and dismissed and ignored and you could help so many.

Sincerely,
Denise

p.s. Roseanne Cash has Chiari surgery a few years ago and it was called "minor" surgery... ha!

Hi Bonnie,

I just watched the Tivoed portion of Wednesdays show and have to say you looked quite shocked at some of the Rabbi's comments.

I believe that some, if not all of his statistics were a farce. After almost 29 years of marriage I do believe that commitment, love, trust, faithfulness, respect and communication are the keys to a successful relationship. Sure, all relationships go thru their rough patches where communication falters -- but we must always return to the 6 Key Elements.

I think the "bar scenario" was absolutely ridiculous!

I'm sure, after seeing your shock and surprise in different portions of the guest appearance that you'll be applying a filter for future guests...

Thanks for listening! Love your genuineness... you have such a sweet and sensitive heart.

Blessings from
Rhonda in Chicago (again)

Is it possible to put the Kristin Chenoweth segment online? The first half of Wednesdays' show was cut off here in Chicago for a flu health update.

Yes, I'm part of the contest, but I absolutely love that actress (and you!!) and would love to see it....

With Bonnie anything is possible.

Absolutely LOVE, LOVE your show. I'll be sending something in for a segment soon. I have a golden retriever that can do some pretty incredible stunts... I'm a total animal lover like you... You were hysterical on Tuesday with the animals. What a job... Would love to be at a show one day when they're on...

Ok, I've gone on enough. Love and Blessings from Chicago!

Rhonda

Hi Bonnie,

It's *Bob again. [Sorry.] Will you give me an opportunity to be tased by the cops? [Just a big, solid, loving, Midwestern hug?] I'm not sure, but I think my heart is strong enough to withstand the tasing, but I haven't cleared it with my wife. (She's still asleep.)...

If I abstain from a tasing by the cops (--much as I'm sure that they'd love to participate in the event--), would you at least be willing to send a signed 8 x 10 [or larger -- poster-size would be GREAT!] to me and my wife? Preferably something that suggests affection for us... genuine or otherwise -- we're not picky.

I also still need to request photos from Alex Trebek: One with a moustache and one without.... I bet the moustache ones are already worth a pretty penny.... I wonder how much they'd go for on eBay....

Oh, Bonnie, No. We'd never sell your photo. And we wouldn't sell Alex's either. I was just thinking aloud about money and potential value because I'm unemployed. Nevertheless, there are items that are MUCH more meaningful than their potential monetary value. Bonnie -- A photo of your lovely face with a scrawled sentiment in the corner would be priceless to me (--and to my wife, no doubt). Just make sure that your signature is clearly legible and doesn't obscure your face.

I love you Bonnie (--but not as much as I love my dear wife).

*Bob

P.S. -- If you could send that signed photo in poster size, it would be most GRATEFULLY received.

Dear Bonnie,

Oh, my goodness, how I enjoy your mother!!! I keep thinking that you will stop having her on as often as she is, but to be truthful, sometimes she is all I watch for! She is funny, she is truthful, she is smart and straight forward. Almost as important as how she makes me laugh is the fact that I can tell what a really wonderful relationship you have with her and that you can joke with your mother is a real gift.

When you asked her if she'd leave the Celebrity Apprentice today (like Joan Rivers did when Melissa got kicked off), and she responded, I laughed harder than I have in a long time! Laughter is good medicine and your mother has it!

Thank you both,
Melanie C.

Dear Bonnie,
I am unemployed and have managed to catch your show a few times. (I believe I actually saw your premier show!) I simply HAD to try and catch it because I have had a celebrity crush on you for many years. It's OK. My wife also has a few celebrity crushes. We've been married for 20.5 years. It's not uncommon for me to call out: "Your boyfriend's on!" when Bob Costas appears reporting on whatever he may be reporting on -- usually sports. I have my own celebrity girlfriends that she recognizes including you, Candace Bergen, and Emily Deschanel ("Bones").
Bonnie: What my wife and I both have in common is that we love someone who is not only physically attractive, but also mentally and spiritually attractive, and SMART -- if that makes any sense. I think it does make sense to older people, but the younger generation seems to glorify virtual idiocy.... "Like, fer SHER!!....Like... and, um, YEAH!"
However, already I run the risk of rapidly going off message. (I get that from my mother.... I remember at Sunday dinners [--or "lunch" to some people] saying things like: "Just the facts, Ma'am." or "Mom, can you just give us the Reader's Digest version?")
Before I get TOO waylayed, let me just say that I saw most of your show today (Wednesday) and thoroughly enjoyed it. As usual, you are your wonderfully charming, honest, straight-forward funny, witty self, and your guests -- whom you make so much at home that they can be themselves -- were delightfully entertaining.
While I don't really know Kristin Chenoweth, I thoroughly enjoyed your interview with her and found her quite charming. I think that her dog made it clear that she's a lovable individual.
As for your Mom -- from her videophone conversation with you and those few that I've seen earlier, I think it's clear that she is one heckuva sweet, funny, sharp woman, and your response makes it clear that you're a loving, close-knit family. I think that that's one of the things that I love about you. Family is so important, and in your conversations, you and your mother evince such a loving, honest, playful relationship. It's always a joy to watch the two of you interact (--even if she WOULD sell you out on Celebrity Apprentice).
Finally -- although I have other things I'd like to comment on and ask you about [--including your experience with Second City--], I wanted to express my appreciation for Rabbi Shmuley Boteach's appearance on your show -- if that IS in fact his REAL name. His responses to the questions from the audience were good, solid, common sense. I was raised a Fundamentalist, Protestant Christian, and -- despite that -- fell in love with and married a Conservative Catholic. I knew that she was the woman that I wanted to spend the rest of my life with, and we have now been married nearly 21 years. That being said, When Rabbi Boteach was answering audience questions, the objective part of me was saying, "that's just good ol' common sense...", but the subjective part of me was seeing how that I had not been applying that in my relationship with my beloved wife, and that I know I should have been. I explained this to my beloved wife this evening and apologized to her, knowing that I have been rather verbally and psychologically abusive at times. Because we share a similar sense of humor, we "kid" each other about our shortcomings, but sometimes it may become a bit excessive, and it can shart to be taken seriously and can wear a person down psychologically. We've always tried to keep communication open and honest, but sometimes when I'm "down" I blame more things on her than I have any right to. Despite being "happily married," we both suffer from clinical depression. Nevertheless, we recognize this shortcoming, and we recognize our love and commitment to each other, and today was a chance for me to recognize and apologize to her for sometimes being a real crapmonster toward her. She acknowledged the sincere apologies, and also noted that sometimes it was reciprocated....
It's not the Jerry Springer Show; there were no fisticuffs; there were no other people involved; but it was just an important part of recognizing our shortcomings, and acknowledging that we still love each other, and that sometimes we're too hard on each other because we're just lashing out. We know that we love each other, but sometimes we fail to show it because we get caught up in the frustrations of the day to day, start griping, and then start blaming each other or bringing up petty grievances that we should have left behind if we were more mature.
Bonnie -- This is just to say that I recognized my own personal shortcomings and immaturity in your segment with Rabbi Shmuley Boteach ["If indeed that IS his REAL name"], and took the opportunity to honestly acknowledge my shortcomings to the woman that I love and to whom I commited myself for life. She appreciated it, and left for bed with more than one kiss. [I'm still up -- not only to write this -- but also because I'm an insomniac "night person" who freakishly married a "morning person. Hey! 21 years! You've GOTTA know that there's a foundation of LOVE in there!]
I'd just like to thank you for that segment with the Rabbi, even though my wife and I are not Jewish. It just proves that there is a central, common-sense, non-religious, moral and ethical core and code that we as individuals recognize when we are thoughtful, sincere, and empathetic. Might I also mention "Non-Partisan."
Bonnie -- Keep being your wonderful, loveable self. Whether or not I get a chance to watch your show, it's clear that you emanate and radiate a love and joie-de-vivre that all people can bathe in to their benefit. If all humanity shared your approach to life, the world would be so wonderful.

From your celebrity-crush lover, with love and all best wishes,

*Bob.

Bonnie -- If you wanna "hook up" some time, my cell-phone number is 703-479... Hah! Just kidding! Much as I LOVE you, Bonnie, my marital vows were sacred. I LOVE my wife. If I ever meet you in person, though, I'm sure that I'll give you one heckuva hug! THEN you can have the cops tase me!

Hi Bonnie,
I love your show and only recently started watching but the Rabbi Shmuley Boteach you had on today just sounded like an arse. I hate his in the dark teachings about men and women. Particularly that men need variety to feel satisfied and women desire any less. The poor woman who's husband won't leave her alone at 60 needs to get better advice than just put up with it and be grateful for a situation that is clearly an issue for her. He doesn't seem to have a healthy respectful opinion of women or should I say he's still in the mindset that they are subservient to a man. Again what an arse.
I hope some women were smart enough to ignore some of his ideas of healthy relationships.
Sorry this is only the second time I've written in to a show. The rest of the show was great - loved Kristen and Alice.

Bonnie and Show family

I love your show!!

I was also in shock today when I saw you introduce your cousin Dr. Kula from the Chiari Institute. I will be having surgery for Chiari on December 15, 2009. Chiari is a horrible condition and so many people suffer for years until finally being correctly diagnosed. I was misdiagnosed for 18 years and have been searching around Dallas, Texas for 4 years for a surgeon. I, unfortunately, just can't afford to fly to New York for surgery.

I think it would be a great use of your show to have your cousin on the show as a guest to explain Chiari and it's symptoms so people like me won't have to continue to suffer. Bringing this condition to the public forum would help so many people who suffer in silence every day, afraid to go to one more doctor, to be told we are crazy and imagining symptoms.

Bonnie, you have used your show as such a wonderful vehicle for awareness of Cancer and other illnesses...myself and my other "Chaiarians" as we like to call ourselves... need this condition brought to light.

Thank you,

Aimee Zemanek
Dallas, Texas

Bonnie, great show today! Loved hearing about your travel woes with your dog, because we all have such stories. What a great idea to have a pet airline! There are so many folks who just can't leave their "kids" back at home. How much nicer vacation will be now that we have a safe choice.
Can you have the Pet Airlines people come onto your show and give us more details?

Dee

Dear Bonnie,

I was in shock today when I saw you introduce your cousin Dr. Kula from the Chiari Institute. I will be having surgery there on June 2,2009. Chiari is a debilitating condition and so many people suffer for years like myself until finally being diagnosed. It would be so awesome to see your cousin on the show as a guest to explain Chiari and it's symptoms so people like me won't have to continue to suffer. Bringing this condition to the public forum would help so many people who suffer in silence every day, afraid to go to one more doctor , to be told we are crazy and imagining symptoms. I am scared as having brain surgery isn't my idea of fun, but as a mother of 9 children who can hardly get out of a chair some days I need to do this for them as much as for myself. Please Bonnie I and my other "chaiarians" as we like to call ourselves... need this condition brought to light.

Thank you, and I love your show!!
