SHOW RECAP
Being the daughter of Debbie Reynolds and Eddie Fisher hasn't been that easy for Carrie Fisher. She has a new memoir out and will share with Bonnie why she has diagramed out her family tree of marriages and remarriages to make sure her daughter's potential date doesn't turn out to be a relative. On 'Kyle XY' Matt Dallas doesn't have that problem as he plays a teenager who can't recall having a family or a childhood for that matter. If you made a resolution to eat healthier then you'll want to catch chef Tyler Florence as he prepares a healthy dish to help you keep that waistline in check. Plus, it's a new year and a new edition of everyone's favorite mom - 'Ask Alice' is back!

Salmon Baked in Parchment with Couscous and Curry ButterPrint this Recipe

Ingredients

Salmon and Mussels:
4 6-oz salmon fillets, boneless and skin removed
16 mussels, cleaned and de-bearded
2 tablespoons toasted fennel seeds
2 tablespoons toasted coriander seeds
1/2 tablespoon Kosher salt
1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
Extra-virgin olive oil
Juice of 1 lemon
3 scallions, finely sliced, for garnish
ΒΌ bunch cilantro, for garnish

Couscous:
1 cup couscous
2 tablespoons chopped fresh cilantro
1/2 teaspoon lemon zest
8 frozen cubes of chicken stock (about 2 tablespoons per cube)
Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper

Curry Butter:
1 stick of unsalted butter
2 tablespoons curry powder
1 fresh red chile, roughly chopped
1 clove of garlic, peeled
Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper

Directions

Yield: serves 4
Time: 45 minutes

Pop 2 sheet trays into the oven and preheat to 350 degrees F.

Begin by making a seasoning with fennel and coriander seed and salt and pepper.  Pound spices with salt and pepper in a mortar and pestle until you have a rough powder.  Make curry butter by combining ingredients in a food processor and pulsing until smooth.  Season salmon with half of the spice mix and set aside remaining mix for couscous.  In a large mixing bowl combine couscous, cilantro, lemon zest and remaining seasoning.  Stir well to combine. Then divide evenly amongst four large pieces or parchment (big enough to create a folded pocket for the salmon.  Nestle into the couscous 2 frozen chicken stock cubes for each portion.  Top with the piece of salmon and then smear a tablespoon of the curry butter on top.  Squeeze lemon juice over the top of each piece of fish and couscous then set 4 mussels around the fish in each packet.  Fold over the parchment to create a pocket and trim paper to make a heart shape.  Crimp over the edges, working from one end to the other to secure the paper tightly then brush with olive oil so the paper doesn't burn.  Carefully transfer the parchment pockets to the hot sheet trays (you will probably need to put 2 per tray) then bake in the oven for 15 minutes.

When done, the paper will puff up.  Cut open tableside with scissors and shower with fresh chopped scallions and cilantro.

LOVE the show - Loved Carrie and you and your mothers! I'm the same age as Bonnie and I truly believe that, as long as our mothers are alive, we'll always be young. My 72 year old mom runs rings around me...what about yours??

Please, Please, Please bring back your floral big cup. That was your signature piece. I just miss it so much. I love your show it is a breath of freash air.

What's up with the weird camera angles where we see a great shot of Bonnie (love that!) but a horrible shot of the back of the guest's head? i've noticed it more and more lately and it's just...weird.

Thanks for a good laugh. On this dreary winter day it was nice to laugh for an entire hour.

Carrie Fisher's torn sweater bothered me too! Other than that as a distraction, I loved the show and record it everyday.

Liked the story about Apples to Apples. We play and my niece has had some of the same problems with the words

Bonnie, my little 4 year old is thrilled to have figured out that the voice from PBS KIDS making announcements between shows is Don Lake from your show. In his own words, "Don is a really nice man."

I think so too.

Ireally love your show, and your Mother,
keep up the good work.

Ok I want to say I really like the show. I have been watching for a while and Alice rocks! Wondering why Bonnie is wearing the same black jacket outfit for the last three days. Lets get her a wardrobe, the host is supposed to have one.

Hi Bonnie,

Big fan! you're absolutely marvelous and might I say a master at being naturally funny! Couldn't stop laughing with you and Carrie Fisher, she's stunning and an incredible comedic talent and her mum, the incredible Miss Debbie Reynolds, what a class act! Loved this show and all so far! You and your mum are just classic!

cheers and have a great day! Junelle (San Jose, CA)

Hi Bonnie, I gotta tell you, I love your show!!! I think you have such a wonderful heart!! Your beautiful, funny and kind. I would love to see your show live. I love the segments you have with your mom!! I am also very close to my mom!! And also from a very large family, there are 8 of us, 4 boys 4 girls, I'm the 4th child and get this I am the only kid that didn't get a middle name!! whats up with that? my parents use to tell me that my name was beautiful enough and for the longest time I believed them!! I guess they were right. Take care

Why can we not get in on the free cookbook from Tyler that was offered on your show. I watch your show every day. I live in Kamloops British Columbia, Canada and would like to get the cookbook.

Really enjoy your show and enjoy the talks with your mom. I can relate as I am about her age.

Hey there Bonnie,
I love your show, you are so energetic, funny, and sweet! I was drawn to you right away. I couldnt figure it out til today. You were a nurse! It takes a special person to be a nurse. I was wondering why you changed careers? I think anything you do is great! I am 23 and in nursing school right now; graduate in July. Your show is my break from the hard studies. Thank you!!!
Rebecca

Hi Bonnie,
I work in outside sales, and on those days when I work from home, I often have the TV on to serve as white noise. And my favorite white noise is your show! FYI, your show just came on, and you just mentioned your discontent for Anderson Cooper's excessive coverage of couples making out during New Year's. Well, I agree. Granted, I was out, rather than sitting in front of the TV, but I saw the coverage the next day,....and I certainly wouldn't want to see all that sucking face as well. But, know that I absolutely adore you! And I would love to meet you! And I would love to be on your show someday! As a guest. Not in the audience. But, there's really nothing special about me,....other than,....well, when I figure that out I'll let you know. Love you! Let me know when you're in San Francisco! I'd love to get a drink!

On the show today Bonnie was sharing pictures from her holiday vacation with her family. One of the pictures was of her brothers and nephews in the Cubs jackets they got for Christmas. Behind them on the wall looked to be a collection of some sort above the door -- was it a keychain collection by chance?

My name is also Bonnie (see above) and I also have a yellow lab (/mix) named Charlie -- coincidence? Not really. Add in the keychain collection and that makes 3 similarities -- I have over 300 along my kitchen ceiling -- just checking!

Hi Bonnie, I love your show, I am #6 out of 10 kids so I know exactly what it is like having the same teacher as my older siblings. I grew up just outside of Chicago (Des Plaines) Go Cubs Lets pray for better pitching this year. We played Apples to Apples on Christmas eve too, great game for all ages. Thanks for all the laughs Kim Kositzky

Hi Bonnie,

I love you and your show. But I'd like to respectfully suggest that you stop interrupting your guest. I am wathching right now and you have interrupted Carrie three times. I know it's easy to do when you get excited.

Bonnie, I was watching your show today after I found it again. They changed the time and I called the station right off to find out where they moved you. I can't get thru the day without my daily dose of Bonnie. Ha. Anyway, I heard you talking about people making fun of your grammer. My sister actually became a speach therapist because of me. I could not speak plain until I started to school. I had my own language. So I want you to know I feel your pain and I love your show. Kathy

Hello, a week ago or so you had Shane on dancing to the beyonce "single girls" it was so dam cute, funny anyway i've tried to log on your show to let others view it it now states on your show.
WARNER BROS. WILL NO LONGER ALLOW THIS TO BE VIEWED...????huh??? how can another company not allow us to view something that was on YOUR show?? anyway thought maybe you need to know that..also if you ever do a "new invention show" i invented Dog Closets for pets clothes love to come on the show and allow all to see, just starting out hoping for a dream ...to come true love the show..
